Details for Walk with Father Pilarz

All Marquette faculty and staff are invited to attend the “Poker Walk” around the Marquette Mile, led by President Scott R. Pilarz, S.J. in recognition of National Employee Health and Fitness Day.  The walk will be held Wednesday, May 16, at noon, beginning and ending at the Helfaer Recreation Center.

To start,  enter the Rec Center (525 N. 16th St.) main lobby.  You will be directed to the gymnasium where you will check in and receive a poker card.  You will collect four cards along the route.  The top poker hands at the end of the walk will win prizes.  Healthy snacks will be provided by Sodexo after the walk.   The Department of Recreational Sports will also offer free admission to the Rec Center and Rec Plex May 16-18.

Event Timeline:

  • Register at Rec Center: 11:50 a.m. – 12:10 p.m.
  • Comments by Father Pilarz: 12:10 p.m.
  • Walk begins: 12:15 p.m.
  • Note: Participants may start at a time convenient for them between noon and 1 p.m.

More Details:

This is a casual walk.  Most participants remain in their work clothing and throw on some tennis shoes, but you are welcome to dress how you see fit.

The rain location is inside the Rec Center, but the forecast for the walk is 60 and sunny, so it should be a great day to head outdoors!

If you have any questions, contact Mandi Richter, wellness coordinator, at 8-4581.
